Urzig is a wine village with many vintners open for a "weinprobe" tasting session. Some of the world's best Riesling wine is from this Mosel region!

Kloster Machern brewery/restaurant is close by and about 5km distant are the towns of Bernkastel-Kues and Traban-Trarbach which are an easy cycle along the cycle path following the river. Both are delightful and have many shops and restaurants. A tourist boat stops at Urzig that can be enjoyed to visit these towns; particularly pleasant whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Within an hour's drive is the tourist town of Cochem, Bitburg brewery for a tour, or the Nurburgring racetrack.

You may like to visit during the winter to visit the wonderful Christmas markets of the area; the ones in Traban-Trarbach are held in the town's old wine cellars and are worth a visit.
